the house is moving along

The Grey House is starting to really come together.

The siding is nearly complete. We're just waiting for the stone.

And I love the copper above my front door.

All of our inspections have been given the "green" light.

(We were let into the house by the painter this past weekend...just in case you're wondering how I got in.)

I can't prove it

...because we can't break in. (We tried.)

But apparently we now have most of the house drywalled.

We're getting closer...

come on in

My luck must be changing.

After a few weeks of feeling like the world is pitted against me, today we literally opened a new door.

When building, the construction site is technically off limits.

But Dad2Amara turned the knob to our side door and found it was unlocked.

And in walked all three of us to see the progress on the Grey House.

Here's the view from the kitchen into the family room. See my fireplace in the distance?

And our bathtubs are in.

They're almost done siding the back of the house. But I'm still not sold on the color we chose.

And have I mentioned how much I hate the builder's landscape easement? It's huge. And it's really close to our house.

But you know what? It's our house. And we're moving closer to a move in date!

a quick update

We're building a house. Yet I went two weeks without even visiting the construction site.

And that would be why I haven't posted here for a bit.

The last few days have been filled with our move out of the Yellow House and into the new apartment.

I hadn't seen Amara's bedroom empty since we had first moved into the Yellow House. It seriously brought tears to my eyes. It was the only emotion I felt moving out of that place.

The room was painted with so much love. And fortunately, Amara truly enjoyed her "garden" bedroom.

We're all adjusting to life in an apartment. Although I will admit, we are in tight quarters.

As for the Grey House: the siding is now going up. I stopped by today - sans camera - and to my dismay, the grey is a bit too light for my liking. Only a fraction of the house is sided. So I'm hoping my opinion of it will change over time.

The garage doors have been installed.

And the electrical has been roughed.

We have finally made our final selections with cabinetry and countertops.

We're waiting for the tile folks to give us our new time pricing. I have my fingers crossed that the new tile is not discontinued like our first choice.

So as requested by Susan, I do not have new pictures from the Grey House. But I promise to stop by there this weekend and will post them as soon as I can!
